Nighttime Work- Expect Delays
Monday – Friday from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
EB and WB alternating lane closures near the center median from Pennsylvania Avenue in Beaumont to Main Street in Cabazon for roadway barrier placement, excavation, grinding and paving. Two lanes available to traffic until 11 p.m. then reduced to one lane. Expect delays.
Motorists should expect to see additional traffic reconfigurations throughout the work zone. A 5 mile crossover lane is anticipated for July of 2020 to assist in maintaining freeway capacity.
Workdays and times are subject to change based on weather and field conditions. The speed limit has been reduced to 60 mph and will be strictly enforced by the CHP. Fines are doubled in construction areas. Expect delays, and allow extra time for travel. Those driving trucks and towing trailers please stay in the right two lanes. In the case of minor fender benders, please pull over to the shoulder as quickly as possible. #i10TuneUp
To complete the concrete rehabilitation without reducing freeway capacity, crews will build a temporary “crossover lane” in the construction area. A crossover lane creates workspace by shifting one lane of traffic to the other side of the freeway using a temporary K-Rail lane that crosses the center median.
